Karen becomes 11th named storm

Tropical depression 12 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Karen, but according to a National Weather Service advisory, the system is no immediate threat to land.
Located near latitutde 10.4 north, and longitude 38 west, the storm is about 1,500 miles east of the Windward Islands.
Karen is moving west-northwest around 16 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds near 40 mph. Forecasts call for additional strengthening in the next 24 hours.
